Patriots of Horry Co. · Horry Roots

Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, led the Patriot militia that held the Pee Dee country after Charleston fell in 1780. He served as a Continental officer in the 2nd S.C. Regiment from 1775, then led Marion's Brigade from hideouts like Snow's Island, striking and vanishing into the swamps. In October 1780, local planters at Lake Swamp, in what is now Horry County, fed “Continental troops commanded by General Marion when Colonel,” a record still held by the S.C. Department of Archives & History.

  • Back: Francis Marion’s signature over “2nd S.C. Regiment & S.C. Militia · 1775–1782” and “The Swamp Fox,” with the Patriots of Horry Co. mark below
  • Navy Gildan 18500 heavy blend hoodie: 50/50 cotton-poly fleece, double-lined hood, front pouch pocket
  • Printed to order for you in the USA. Designed in Conway, SC.
